A spring wedding is a fantastic opportunity to give in-season culinary delights to your guests. There is no better time to reap the bounty of all the season’s fresh produce and flowers. Spring produce is not only tasty, it makes for an eco-friendly gift as well. Guests appreciate the time and care that goes into a homemade wedding favor, so capitalize on your local harvests and create a delicious treat that your guests can savor.
Collect your supplies. Get one glass jar for each guest at your wedding (excluding underage guests) plus a few extra in case of breakage. Select organic lemons and ginger. For every 750mL bottle of vodka you purchase, you will need three lemons and one small piece of ginger. Purchase enough vodka to fill all your glass jars.
Wash and scrub your lemons with a scrub brush. Cut off the peels and remove any pith.
Pour out a 1/8 cup of each vodka bottle. Save excess vodka in a separate jar or bottle for your own use. Add lemon peel and ginger pieces to each bottle. Store bottles in a cool dark place for a week before the wedding.
Pour infused vodka into glass jars, straining any pieces of ginger or peel. Twist the lids on tightly and wipe jars clean with a towel or rinse them with water. Tie a ribbon around the bottles or label with a thank you sticker for decor..
Purchase traditional brown paper bags or decorative ones from a craft or party store. You will need one for each guest and a few extra in case of mistakes.
Write a message on each bag with your white paint pen. Include your names, the date of the wedding, a thank you, or just a simple heart. This can be time consuming so consider asking your wedding party if you need help.
Buy cherries a day before the wedding. These spring berries will be abundant at this time of year and will be at their ripest. Get enough cherries to for all your bags. Fill your bags to the brim with cherries.
